Sharing Economy UK is the trade body, launched in 2015 following a government commissioned independent review, representing the UK’s sharing economy businesses. The sharing economy allows us to unlock the value of assets, connect with our local communities, and to increase productivity by enabling people to trade their space, skills and their stuff. Whilst Sharing Economy UK represent a wide range of platform businesses we all share a collective mission: To empower people to utilise existing resources and reduce waste.
Sharing Economy UK works closely with policymakers including the Government. It represents the sharing economy community and calls for policy changes which better protect both consumers and sharing economy businesses.
Sharing Economy UK is partnered with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the UK’s most influential business organisation, since 2017. While Sharing Economy UK maintains its independence and unique objectives, the CBI provides operational support and advises on key policy and business challenges facing the sector.
